How will your Telethon Donation benefit the food bank?
COVID-19 Crisis Response
The Coachella Valley Desert Region has been hit especially hard by the coronavirus pandemic. The shutdowns have placed economic burdens on our agriculture and tourism industries. Given that 1 in 4 jobs are tourism-based, it is no wonder the need skyrocketed in response to furloughs and widespread unemployment.
In a normal year, FIND Food Bank serves 90,000 individuals each month, but that number has increased to an average of 150,000 people monthly during the pandemic year, FIND distributed about 13 million pounds of food, but from January 2020 – November 2020, FIND distributed over 20 million pounds of food.
Feeding America projects that in our Riverside County Region, food insecurity will increase by 65% for residents into 2021. That means 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children could need help accessing quality, nutritious food.
