September is FIND’s 35th Anniversary!
For 35 years FIND Food Bank’s mission has been to fight food insecurity and hunger by providing much-needed food resources. This all began in 1983, when FIND’s founder, Wayne Robinson, started distributing food out of the back of his blue Pinto when he saw that his neighbors were in need. This new enterprise was named Food in Need of Distribution (FIND). It was established to feed hungry children, seniors, and adults throughout the Coachella Valley.
Today, FIND has evolved from a small fellowship of like-minded individuals into the Greater Coachella Valley’s Regional Food Bank, providing not only healthy, nutritious food assistance but also outreach services to help low-income households build sustainability and self-sufficiency.
In support of Hunger Action Month and in celebration of our 35 years of service, we are asking you to donate $35 or more to FIND, either securely online or by mailing your check to 83-775 Citrus Ave. Indio, 92201.
Family of FIND Food Bank founder volunteers for his 100th birthday
It wasn’t a traditional birthday party, but 100 years after the birth of FIND Food Bank founder Wayne Robinson, his family came together to honor the man who wanted to fight hunger in the valley. Wayne Robinson’s 100th birthday happens to land within the last three days of 2017, which are also the largest donating days of the year. Stater Bros. Markets decided to join in on the celebration and gifted a donation of $20,000 to FIND. That amount will provide 140,000 meals for 2018, in addition to food donations collected from customers throughout the holiday season.
As we enter the new year and begin to start a new chapter, some of our neighbors in need are not as fortunate. Join the Robinson family & Stater Bros. Charities and give the gift that goes even further to change someone’s life: $1 = 7 meals.
